A new desingularization algorithm for binomial varieties in arbitrary characteristic
This talk will be an overview of a new combinatorial algorithm of resolution of singularities for binomial ideals, over a field of arbitrary characteristic. This means ideals generated by binomial equations without any restriction, including monomials and p-th powers, where p is the characteristic of the base field.
This algorithm has been implemented to Singular. The library "resbin.lib" (RESolution of BINomial ideals) is a joint work with Gerhard Pfister, from Technical University Kaiserslautern.
We will start with a short introduction to the theoretical algorithm, and then we will compute several examples to show the running of the library.
