Abstract Tietz

Ferns and other plants

Highly connected simplicial complexes such as the arc complex play a crucial role in many proofs of homological stability theorems. In the talk, I will discuss reasons for these complexes' importance and then focus on plant complexes, which are useful in the investigation of branched coverings. As a result, I will give an outline of a new homological stability result for Hurwitz spaces.
